2019-2020 Gender-based analysis plus (GBA+)

Governance Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) has recently named a new Diversity and Inclusion Champion whose role is to support the application of Gender-Based Analysis+ (GBA+) in service design and delivery. Representatives from the Department's informal Feminist Government / GBA+ Network have a seat at senior management and policy circles and are encouraged to apply a gender and diversity lens to the discussions.
Human Resources The resources dedicated to support GBA+ within CIRNAC and Indigenous Services Canada (ISC), including supporting the Diversity and Inclusion Champion, stand at one Full Time Equivalent (FTE) working at 0.8 time. CIRNAC also relies on the support of its informal joint Feminist Government / GBA+ Network which is comprised of approximately 50 employees for the dissemination of best practices and information sharing, along with voluntary sectoral GBA+ representatives that serve as subject matter experts within the Department at large.
Planned Initiatives In the coming year, directorate and sectoral GBA+ representatives will be formalized. GBA+ monitoring will be undertaken on all Treasury Board Submissions, Cabinet documents, budget submissions, and in policy and program architecture and implementation. With the development of a GBA+ toolkit and formalized GBA+ sectoral representatives, CIRNAC will be well positioned to apply and monitor fulsome, culturally competent GBA+ throughout the Department.
