Opportunities for ministerial appointments

Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada is seeking individuals to serve on certain institutions, boards and commissions for which the ministers have appointment responsibilities.

Who can apply

Northwest Territories

Northwest Territories residents over the age of 18 expressing interest to serve must clearly demonstrate their knowledge and experience relevant to the organization or organizations they wish to serve. Current members are also invited to express their interest in being considered for appointment to other organizations. Each board operates separately from all governments. Members of boards and councils are not delegates of the parties who nominate or appoint them.

Members must be able to participate in meetings and activities based on fluctuating workloads. Appointments are for set 3-year terms. Remuneration for days served and expenses for travel are provided.

All candidates proposed for appointment or nomination must undergo a federal security verification, including the provision of fingerprints and a credit check.

Preference may be given to candidates who self-identify as members of one or more of the following groups:

  • Indigenous peoples
  • youth
  • women
  • persons with disabilities
  • members of visible minorities

Preference will be given to residents of the Northwest Territories.

Yukon

Yukoners over the age of 18 expressing interest to serve must clearly demonstrate their knowledge and experience relevant to the organization or organizations they wish to serve. Current members are also invited to express their interest in being considered for appointment to other organizations. As per the Umbrella Final Agreement, members of boards and councils are not delegates of the parties who nominate or appoint them.

Members must be able to participate in meetings and activities based on fluctuating workloads. Appointments are for set 3-year terms. Remuneration for days served and expenses for travel are provided.

All candidates proposed for appointment or nomination must undergo a federal security clearance, including the provision of fingerprints and a credit check.

Preference may be given to candidates who self-identify as members of one or more of the following groups: youth, women, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities and members of visible minorities.

Nunavut, Nunavik and Eeyou Istchee

  • An up-to-date résumé that includes your contact information, and a detailed chronology regarding relevant experience.
