Closing of the summer season

An excavator digs in a rock pile on the side of a road. The work area has been blocked off with safety delineators and construction workers in safety gear and signs.
The Project undertook a few highway upgrades this summer.

Though work continues year-round on the mine site, as the cold and snow settle in, some of the activity at site will pause until the warmer months return.

Summer 2026 was very productive for the Project. One of the major tasks for this year was upgrades to Highway #4, commonly known as the Ingraham Trail. The team made improvements to the Giant Mine site entrances, which required removing bedrock to widen the roadway. These upgrades will allow for safe turning and less disruption to public users of the highway, making for better overall traffic flow.

Work continued on the new Water Treatment Plant to get that up and running for early 2027, and work also included the decontamination and demolition of the remaining buildings in the core industrial area on the site, such as the former mill.
