The INAN Committee had previously undertaken the study during the 2nd session of the 43rd Parliament, and presented its report on June 16, 2021. The Committee concurred in that report and re-presented it to the House of Commons on November 21, 2022 and requested a government response. The report provided 4 recommendations for the Government of Canada to act on to address food security in northern and isolated communities. During the study, the Committee heard from Indigenous Services Canada, Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada, Agriculture and Agri-Food, the Governments of Nunavut, Northwest Territories, and Yukon, several Indigenous communities and National Indigenous Organizations, and other stakeholder groups.
