Human Resources and Workplace Services: Our team is there for you!

Good day

We are already entering our seventh week of self isolation and have all had to adapt to remote work, in an unusual and often complex context. The Human Resources and Workplace Services Branch team (intranet link: http://intranet-rcaanc-cirnac/eng/1579632175406/1579632290909) would like to remind you that its teams are at work and providing HR services based on critical services priorities. We would also like to tell you that many of us are available and able to support you during this extraordinary time.

Workplace wellness

During this unprecedented time, some of you may experience increased levels of stress, that may result in tense work conversations and difficult dynamics in the workplace. If you need support or want to discuss a difficult work-related situation, please know that the Centre for Integrity, Values and Conflict Resolution continues to support you. We encourage you to contact the Centre by email at aadnc.centre.aandc@canada.ca or by phone (toll-free) at 1-866-247-1080. Also, should you be experiencing personal or work-related problems, you can always have access to an Employee Assistance Program counsellor at 1-800-268-7708 (toll-free).

The Centre for Abilities Management and Workplace Wellness is also available to assist managers and employees with illness or disabilities, and is an excellent resource team to consult on management of long-term absences or absences, accommodations, training/discussions on mental health and well-being. You can contact them via the generic email: Sac.cgcpmt-camww.isc@canada.ca.

Mental health week

In addition, from May 4 to 10, 2020, virtual activities will be offered as part of Mental Health Week. This year's theme is the social link, which supports public health messages on the importance of maintaining social ties in these times of physical distance. The overriding key message is: Weaving and maintaining relationships with other people and your community is not just making you feel good; it's also good for your mental health. A GCcollab group (Centre for Abilities Management and Workplace Wellness Program — use Chrome if you are experiencing difficulties with the link) has been created to bring together all the details of the virtual events of Mental Health Week. You will find information about LifeSpeak's mental health marathon, mindfulness webinars and a toolkit for Mental Health Week.

Safety and health week

The Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) team is also here to help you. If you have any questions in regards to ergonomics you can email aadnc.sstacnohsservicesnhq.aandc@canada.ca and someone from the OHS team will get back to you as soon as they can. Don’t forget that May 3 to 9, 2020 is Safety and Health Week. Consult the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety and our internet sites for more information and upcoming events.

We also share with you a series of stretching exercises at work that aim to help you stay active and avoid muscle pain and fatigue.

Organizational development services

Finally, the Organizational Development teams at each of the Human Resources Service Centres (intranet link: http://intranet-rcaanc-cirnac/eng/1579632175406/1579632290909) are available to assist you in your organizational planning for 2020–2021, whether with regards to performance management or learning. This period of self-isolation is an ideal time to reflect on your professional and personal development!
