3. Work to develop data collection methods that allow for the reliable assessment of student enrollment and success. The Education Branch agrees that the data on student enrollment and success is not reliable. The Branch has revised its data collection instruments (DCIs) as well as the timing of the reporting process to improve the reliability and completeness of the data. The new DCIs will apply from 2012-2013 onwards, with the first set of data to be submitted by recipients in June 2013. July 2013 Status: Underway

Update/Rationale:
As of 30/09/2013:

The Education Information System went live in December 2012. Recipients used the DCI for the first time to report on PSSSP/UCEPP. Deadline to submit reports was postponed from June to August 31, 2013 to allow recipients to take training and adapt to the new system. As of September 30, 2013, there was still a significant share of reports missing. Regional offices are following-up with recipients individually.

As of September 20th the reporting situation regarding missing reports for some region was as follow: Atlantic 44%, Ontario 40%, Manitoba 60%, Saskatchewan 50%, Alberta 17%. The other regions have not yet submitted their data or have indicated that they were almost completed.

AES: Underway – Progress has been made on implementing DCIs for PSSSP/UCEPP, and more work and monitoring are expected to ensure the successful role out, and to ultimately ensure the most reliable and relevant data are captured. Continued monitoring required.
