Orchestre symphonique de Montréal Nunavik Tour
Music always brings people together - which is why it is such a valuable means of raising awareness across cultures. The Inuit Relations Secretariat supported a collaboration between the Avataq Cultural Institute and the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (OSM) in a project aimed at bridging two cultures through the development and performance of music and drama that incorporated the best of both Inuit and classical traditions. The project involved OSM musicians and Inuit musicians and actors leading workshops in schools and holding evening performances in three Quebec Nunavik communities: Inukjuak, Kangiqsujuaq and Kuujjuaq. In addition, Catbird Productions of Montreal, with support from the IRS, produced a documentary of the tour.
